I just had a new metal roof out on over shingles. I have noticed that they did not use closure strips. What can be done to exclude bugs etc from the gaps on the edges of the roof? Additionally there is a dip in the back side of the roof. What could cause this? The original roof was in good working order and straight previous to the metal installation.

The straight lines of metal roofs can accentuate dips in the roof but right off hand I can't imagine anything that would cause dips from a metal roof being installed. Have you spoken with your contractor about these concerns?

Also, is it a fairly normal thing to not add closure strips or is that something I should reasonably expect to have been done?

The spray can stuff really isn't exterior grade and could also cause problems with expansion or contraction down the road. I'd rather see you use a neoprene based closure strip.
