3 years ago I had a metal roof put on my house. This past year I have started having issues with leaking around 3 of the vents on top of the house. I realize that I need 1 of vents. The other two are not even needed.
One vent is for a fireplace that has never seen a fire and never will. The other is for a vent hood for the kitchen stove and I have a vent hood that uses a filter and does not even have an opening on the top of it to be vented out the roof.
So my question is this, is there a way that I can remove these vents entirely and not have hole in the roof? Is there some sort of roofing piece that can be applied over the holes? Honestly, I am so tired of trying to get these to vents to stop leaking. Nothing I do seems to work. I really just want them gone completely if it is possible.

I wonder a lot of things regarding the pitch of your roof, the type of flashing that was used, and what sort of metal roof was installed. However, to answer your questions, while what you're suggesting is not common, it should be easier to seal a hole than to seal a hole with a pipe through it. This would just have to be done sealant, perhaps some screws, and flat metal stock.

It is closed and I am thinking that instead of cutting the top off and putting it over a pipe, I might just leave is closed and seal off the hole entirely with it.
I don't see why this would not work...but what do you think?
