3 years ago I had a metal roof put on my house. This past year I have started having issues with leaking around 3 of the vents on top of the house. I realize that I need 1 of vents. The other two are not even needed.
One vent is for a fireplace that has never seen a fire and never will. The other is for a vent hood for the kitchen stove and I have a vent hood that uses a filter and does not even have an opening on the top of it to be vented out the roof.
So my question is this, is there a way that I can remove these vents entirely and not have hole in the roof? Is there some sort of roofing piece that can be applied over the holes? Honestly, I am so tired of trying to get these to vents to stop leaking. Nothing I do seems to work. I really just want them gone completely if it is possible.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

I am sorry to hear of the problems you have had. I wonder a lot of things regarding the pitch of your roof, the type of flashing that was used, and what sort of metal roof was installed. However, to answer your questions, while what you're suggesting is not common, it should be easier to seal a hole than to seal a hole with a pipe through it. This would just have to be done sealant, perhaps some screws, and flat metal stock.

I am so sorry, I forgot about adding the type of roof. It is metal sheets with 5 ridge rows on each sheet.
I found this last night online

It is closed and I am thinking that instead of cutting the top off and putting it over a pipe, I might just leave is closed and seal off the hole entirely with it.
I don't see why this would not work...but what do you think?

It is an option. However, if you can cover over the hole just with metal, the metal will last much longer than will the rubber of the pipe flashing.

Just a piece of flashing laid flat?

A piece of matching metal could be screwed into place and sealed similar to the pipe flashing you found.

Drop me an email and let me know what size piece of metal you need, what approximate color you need, and whether it's steel or aluminum. Send me your address and I will send you the metal at no charge. I can sell you screws and sealant if you wish. My email is [email protected]

I found sheet metal at Lowes. That was easier than I expected. Thanks!
