We are renovating a house that was originally built in the 1920s we have this beautiful ceiling in our dining room, but it is straight tin. Is there a way to insulate and do like a new roof on the outside? We really want to keep this beautiful ceiling showing

I would need to know a lot more about your construction. Is there an attic above the ceiling? If not, what is above it? How does the ceiling interact with your roof?

So like I said it is a really old house. So the tin is the only thing there. It is technically both the ceiling and roof right now. If I were to drill into it, there would be a hole to the outside. We want the tin and wood to show, but at the same time it needs to be insulated.

You will probably need a carpenter and perhaps a structural engineer / design person to take a look at things and see whether a roof can be built above this. It probably can be but you need someone with specific expertise in that area.

Any chance you can post up some pictures of the interior and the exterior?
