Wasps Under Roofcaps

Just moved into a home with a metal roof and we love it! Unfortunately, it turns out wasps do too. I can access one of the ridges from our attic and there are a ton of wasp nests in the process of being built between the wire mesh and the roof cap. I can spray these ones without too much trouble, but the other roof lines are a lot tougher to access and I likely will need to use an extension pole with sprayer on the end.

I'm hoping to find a long term solution so I don't need to deal with this every year. I'm thinking something along the lines of stuffing some steel wool in all the gaps to take away the space where they're building the nests. My main concern is that then the attic wouldn't be sufficiently ventilated, but I'm also wondering if this would be effective.

Would love to hear any thoughts on this idea or other possible strategies.
