The current metal roof is almost 50 years old and needs replaced. I'm replacing with a new metal roof in an unheated equipment barn. What is the best method to eliminate condensation from forming.

Some of the perlins need replaced because they have rotted from the moisture. I was looking at the inexpensive method of bubble insulation, but not sure how effective it is.

I am concerned that the bubble insulation, while it may work, may just transfer the problem from the underside of the metal to the underside of the insulation. I'd suggest talking to the manufacturer to see what they think. Closed cell urethane foam is an expensive option. Adding decking might take care of the issue, and definitely would if you put purlins on top of the decking. There are also products like DripStop that can be applied to the underside of the roofing, to absorb the moisture and then release it slowly rather than let it drip. http://dripstop.net

If I'm going to spend the money to deck the roof I'll just shingle it and use the metal to replace the vertical sides.
