We had metal roofing on our previous home and loved it. We are considering for our current home. We burn anthracite (hard, low sulfur/ash) coal for heating and want to know how this will affect a metal roof?

I do not know a ton about this subject but coal ash can damage paint finishes and be corrosive to metal. That said, it sounds like the type of coal you burn minimizes this risk. Have you seen any damage to finishes or metal around your current home?

It has caused out aluminum siding to corrode.

I don't run into this very often but you would very likely have the same risk with metal roofing.
