We had our metal roof installed December 2017. In the spring I started noticing long foam sections on the lawn or hanging from the roof. I called and the roofing company came to “tuck them back in place”. My husband cleaned the gutters recently and he said they are all coming out and many were just laying in the gutters. Are these necessary and if so, how are they supposed to be installed? Thanks so much for your help!

The foam closures strips (if that is what we are referring to) are normally backed with adhesive and stick down to the roof.
