Hello, I have installed a metal roofing over my patio. This is a non heated completely open on 3 side and will stay that way, no windows doors ect. Plans are to install 2 can LED lights and to close the ceiling in with with car siding. Started the project late fall in Central Illinois. After a good hard frost we noticed frost on the bottom side of the metal roofing and then it warmed up and it became completely wet and dripping. Should I just use a plastic vapor barrier on the bottom of the trusses then the car siding? Would it be better to use some type of board insulation that is in contact with the metal roofing? I hoping not to have to remove the metal roofing.
Thanks Jay

You need a vapor barrier ... and normally polyethylene with taped seams will do that. Adding insulation could help with condensation but should also help with rain noise.
