Hello. I recently had a Decra Shake Metal Roof installed. The contractor used screws because I live in a freeze/ thaw area. I noticed when cleaning my gutters that the screws are mostly at 45 degree angles. I had imagined they would be flush with the nose of the panel. They all look similar. Is this normal practice to put the screws at a 45 degree angle? Thank you.

If they are screwed into the nose of the panel, that is pretty normal.

I agree with Eric that this is not unusual. That said, on a question that is so product-specific and potentially affects product wind warranty, I do refer you back to the manufacturer for their input.

Thank you for your fast responses! I appreciate your information. The Decra installation guide that I have is vague regarding this so I will contact them directly as you suggest. Thanks!

My comment here will be making the assumption that the Decra Shake was installed on a 2 x 2 batten.
If that is the case, then having the fastener at a 45 degree angle is beneficial. The reasons why are: 1) you are taking advantage of the thickest part of the 2 x 2 and 2) it is also more likely that the fastener will penetrate the wood against he grain giving the fastener more holding strength.. Therefore an angle will give you your best attachment.
