I have an older metal roof. The screws were replaced by a company with a size larger. Some of the rubber washers or distorted showing signs of being over torgued. How many times can you change out to a larger screw? Would changing to even larger screws compromise the supports the tin is secured to? or would it be better to have new metal sheets and screws install.

You should be able to use the same screw size again if the recent screws were installed to tightly.

The roofing company installed silicone on several screws after installation. I don’t know why. I questioned the life if the silicone and was told they use a 40 yr silicone. Has anyone ever heard of that?
