Question on installed standing seam roof - panels too short

I had a new standing seam metal roof installed on my home a few months ago and just noticed that all of the roof panels were cut 1-1/2 to 2 inches too short at the peak. They do not extend up into the extended bend of the Harvey Metal vented ridge vent to deter water entry as I believe they are supposed to. Since I can see the top edge of the panel, it is obvious that any wind-blown rain will hit the metal flashing leg of the ridge vent and flow right down under the metal roof panels. I do not have any roof leaks yet - the contractor did not remove existing shingles; they used 30# underlayment on top of the shingles and then installed the metal roof. I questioned the method and was assured that this was fine with the standing seam roof that they offered. I think that the only reason that I do not have leaks yet is because of the shingles still being on the roof. I have contacted the contractor and am waiting for him to stop by and see the issue…Initially, when I contacted him, he said that he would only fix the roof if it was leaking and not just because of aesthetics. Unfortunately, I think that this is more than an aesthetic issue. To give him the benefit of the doubt, though, he has not seen the issue yet. Is there a proper way to fix this, besides putting on a new roof? I have attached several pictures…Thanks for any and all advice…..
