I have a leaking old cabin. Some of the Interior horizontal boards that lay across the main ceiling logs are rotten and leaking; however, the idea of removing all of these and taking off the existing metal roof is not what I want - or can afford. How Can I best have a #2 Metal Roof installed over the existing roof ? I’m thinking horizontal 3/4 slats screwed into the existing roof (over the log beams) then screwing down the #2 metal roof. Is that feasible? I only hope to keep this cabin about 10 years tops.

I generally am not in favor of what you have described. However, if you can fasten your wood slats into the structure itself and not just the old roof, it will probably last for several years.
