I was wondering if you could help me determine how to repair a problem with my commercial building, circa 1896. Attached is a photo of the roof where it meets the parapet wall. It is a "roof over" standing seam metal roof installed on a sloped framework several inches above the original low slope built up roof. As you can see, when originally installed probably 30 years back, the installers got to the wall and simply stopped- they never attempted to flash it. The roof is about 2" from the wall in the front of the building and 4" from the wall in back of the building.
What would the best approach to repairing this (including flashing the brick wall) ? Thanks,

Or copy this URL: https://www.metalroofing.com/spirit/comment/24521/find/Can you use a masonry blade to saw cut a slot, or reglet, into the brick running parallel to the roof but about 4" above it? Then screw a Z Channel onto the roof panels running parallel to the wall, about 3" out from the wall. Seal the Z Channel to the roof panel. Install a flashing then that locks over the outward facing leg of the Z Channel and then goes into the reglet. Seal this flashing at the reglet slot.

Or copy this URL: https://www.metalroofing.com/spirit/comment/24525/find/You'd have to "step flash" it then but could you do basically the same thing as far as the Z but eliminate the reglet and bring your step flashings up over the top of the wall, putting the parapet caps back down on top of the flashing.
