We had a new metal roof put on last October, I noticed the other day that alot of the screws had rust on them, I can actually see rust dust on the metal
I contacted the installer and they came out and looked at it and took pictures and said they are contacting the manufacturer of the fasteners.
They didn’t seem to concerned about it, well I am!
I’m looking for advice here on what to do, they say if the manufacturer thinks it’s an issue they will send a rep out to take a look. Should I hire an attorney?
I’m trying to link the photos below

Tough to tell from the two pictures. If I were the contractor, I would remove a sample and send back to the supplier. Sound to me as if the contractor is on it as of right now and hiring an attorney seems more than a bit premature.

Thanks for the reply Eric, there are 4 pics attached. We’re you able to see them all?
I’m just concerned because I don’t have a third party on my side, all I can go by is what the installer is telling me, if they say it’s fine how do I know it’s fine? I would say 1/4 of the fasteners have rust , 1400 sq ft house
Thanks

It doesn't look good to me but I do not work much with exposed fastener panels. Do you know who manufactured the screws?

Yes I know who the manufacturer is. My roofer said they contacted their rep at the fastener company and the rep was on vacation. That’s the last update I got. I’m not sure what to do next or who to contact.

It seems to me that the fastener company needs to give you a response. Be persistent. If you know who they are, you can contact them directly as well. Perhaps use LinkedIn to determine who their CEO is.

Contacted the installer again today for an update, she said she was calling the fastener rep immediately , that was at 2pm , never heard back.. I found the president of the fastener company’s email address, should I go ahead and contact him? I don’t want to go around my installer but it appears I’m being blown off.

I obviously can't comment on the dynamics of your relationship with the contractor but it would not be unusual in this case for a consumer to have direct contact with the fastener manufacturer.
