Ridge vent install correct?

I just had a metal roof Installed and ridge vent cut in. The ridge cap is really standard with no screen or baffling built in. From what I am seeing online, in this situation they usually put some kind of fiber material under the ridge cap to keep blowing rain and bugs out.. But this installer did not. I can literally reach my hand underneath the cap and into the attic. There was also a temporary rain barrier installed (like tarp material) over the ridge cut.. He said he would cut it before installing the cap. It is cut in some places but not others (as felt from inside the attic). Is this done right? It doesn't seem like it, and the guy is bad at communication and can't explain to me how it is correct in satisfying terms. I attached a pic of a very similar roof, but on mine there is no fiber material like is being installed in the pic. Am I missing something? The guy seems defensive but I want to understand how this is OK.

I had started to wonder if there was some slim chance I misunderstood something about how ridge vents work (I was raised by a general contractor and have done roofs when I was young, but this is the first ridge vent I had ever seen up close). It's tricky because this is an enderly friends house.. And the guy who did the roof is a long time worker/friend of hers.. But seems very defensive about the job. I pretty much have been tasked with looking after this lady's interests... So this puts me in a tight spot. I would have no problem fixing it myself. All that needs doing is removing most of the ridge cap and finishing the cutting of the temp material, and laying down some version of this fiber stuff they sell.. And screwing it back down, (maybe with a bit of silicone in the screw holes to be thorough).. But the guy doesn't even want me up there on "his work".

And no unfortunately the design of the cap has no baffle or screen built in. It is identical to the pic minus the color.

I, too, had a metal roof put on my shed. The contractor did not put screening under the ridge vent. We have bugs and debris coming through the vent. What is an easy inexpensive remedy?
