I have a metal roof over a simple 4/12 slope with gable ends. I would like to add a porch and metal roof. My concern is how to attach the roof to the existing slope in order to prevent water leaks. The addition will present a complicated assemble as the porch will have a less aggressive slope of 3/12.
How does one install to prevent possible leaks?

This is a very common area for leaks to occur. The easiest would be to mount the new roof to the fascia so it is a couple of inches below the lowest point of the current roof, slipping a flashing up under the current. Of course, that will make the pitch of the new roof even shallower. Beyond that, you may need to remove the current roof panels and re-install with the new panels. A lot depends upon what type of metal roof you have and also how it was installed. Feel free to send me photos at [email protected] Thanks.
